Monica Montes
Commercial Sales & Marketing
Hello, I’m Mónica Montes
Since 2007, I’ve dedicated my career to sales, starting at a travel agency where I offered services like the Inca Trail and alternative routes. A year later, I began working with Rainforest Expeditions, selling experiences through travel agencies. By 2010, I transitioned to working directly with clients. My journey has been enriched by my experience as a guide and Lodge Manager, which has allowed me to deeply connect with our travelers. While I enjoy assisting all types of clients, I have a special connection with families. I love offering them a personalized experience, starting by listening to what they are looking for and designing a journey that not only meets but exceeds their expectations.
For families traveling together, Peru is full of opportunities
From the northern beaches, where we've enjoyed the ocean and its delicious cuisine, to the gentle hikes and horseback rides around Cusco—a place that also offers family-friendly experiences like the chocolate museum and the magic of every corner of the Sacred Valley. But if I had to choose one destination that deeply impacted my son, it would be Tambopata. There, he not only learned to appreciate nature, but also took part in citizen science activities and experienced the rainforest like a true explorer, becoming part of Wired Amazon projects.
I’ve had the opportunity to travel to different countries
My journeys through Colombia, Brazil, Jamaica, and Curaçao, as well as Italy, France, Spain, and Finland, have taught me that every traveler is unique. Some seek relaxation, others are driven by learning, and many want to share the experience with their children. What I enjoy most is accompanying them in that process of discovery—understanding what inspires them, how to weave Tambopata into a larger trip through Peru, and which experiences can truly make a difference for the entire family.
If it’s your first time traveling to the Peruvian Amazon with kids, here’s my advice
I know it may seem like a challenging destination, but with a trustworthy company that ensures safety and good planning, it becomes a wonderful experience. I recommend carefully choosing the activities that match your family’s pace and interests. If you need more flexibility, a private guide makes all the difference. And above all: travel with an open mind and a willingness to fully participate. The rainforest is an incredible teacher—especially for the little ones.
My main motivation is my love for the Amazon rainforest and the mission we have at Rainforest Expeditions. Here, we don’t just offer trips; we create transformative educational experiences that leave a positive impact on conservation efforts. I’m proud to be an ambassador for Tambopata and its incredible biodiversity, using my experience to craft trips that highlight the importance of preserving this unique destination. In my free time, my greatest passion is dancing—a hobby that I feel connects directly to my work. Movement brings joy, and my goal is for every trip I design to do the same. The sounds of the forest are like music, helping people find a profound connection with themselves.
